1.  Hot Water Heater
Turn your water heater temperature down to 120 degrees F to save energy and reduce the risk of scalding.

2.  First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit
Be sure to look into the First-time Home Buyer Tax Credit if you are a first-time home buyer in the year 2009. This tax credit is different from the 2008 tax credit because it does not have to be paid back.  The previous tax-credit had to be paid back over 15 years and therefore acted more like a loan.
