Happy 100th Birthday, Former President Jimmy Carter!

Published Tuesday, October 8, 2024

On October 1st, we celebrate Former President Jimmy Carter, a man who embodies what it means to put God’s love in action!

“A lot of times we learn about service, we learn about love, and we talk about it. But Habitat lets us put it all into practice.” – Former President Jimmy Carter

In 1984, President and Mrs. Carter worked with Habitat in Americus, Georgia, and realized that the Habitat mission closely aligned with their values. They saw first-hand effects that lack of affordable housing has and understood that, to ensure the greatest success, families need a stable, affordable foundation to grow. That often begins with a place to call home. Since this first experience, the former president has been a proud and dedicated advocate of Habitat for Humanity!

“Perhaps the most significant after-effect is on the Habitat volunteers who join us in building projects, who almost unanimously agree that the personal benefits to their lives always exceed their own financial contributions, time and effort – and that this incentive lasts for years in the future, or for a lifetime.” – Former President Jimmy Carter

Join us in carrying on Former President Jimmy Carter’s Habitat spirit by putting your service and love into action.
