Playhouse Project

What is Playhouse Project?

What started out as a spark of imagination has grown into a flourishing fundraiser for Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity. In fact, the Blitz Build at Fifth Third Field is our biggest fundraiser of the year.

When you build a playhouse the end result is nothing short of magical.

The Playhouse Project is a program designed to teach young children the pride and joy of homeownership.

Are you a family that is interested in receiving a customized playhouse built with love from Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity volunteers?

Working together to build and decorate a Playhouse is fun, creative, and rewarding. Your team will have the inspiring opportunity to see something beautiful and meaningful come together out of a few pieces of wood, knowing that it will bring light into the life of a deserving child in the community.

Each playhouse takes 5-6 hours to build and paint with the help of 8-10 volunteers. Each playhouse is pre-cut to allow groups to design and decorate.

Volunteers will paint the entire structure, assemble the sides, door, windows, trim and construct and shingle the roof.

Playhouse proceeds benefit families in Lucas County in need of affordable housing.

Volunteer as a Playhouse Pro

Prior to a Playhouse Project build, the wooden playhouse kits must be created and primed. Volunteers who have some basic woodworking skills can join our kit creation crew, which works throughout the year to produce all the walls, bases, roofs, and trim pieces at the Habitat warehouse.

These volunteers will coordinate groups of 8-10 volunteers in painting and assembling playhouses. Pros will be trained so they can independently lead a sponsor group in the assembly and decoration of a playhouse. Pros possess excellent people skills, in addition to some basic construction knowledge.
